These are some everlasting memorable people who made Nepali people laugh through the past couple of decades. You certainly know them whether from your youth or from your childhood days.
1. Manoj Gajurel
A standup comedian with roots that he established from Radio to TV shows and climbed aboard with shows throughout Nepal and abroad. Manoj Gajurel is not just a name, but with it comes the understanding of comedy with his persona of a true comedian. At present, he is a judge of the famous comedy reality show Comedy Champions.
2. Shailendra Shimkhada
Shailendra Simkhada is a poetic standup comedy, presenting sarcastic lines in the name of his jokes. He has brought the change to the pattern of comedy with his literary lines. He is counted as one of the lead representatives of the all-time Nepali comedy scene.
3. Maha Jodi (Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya)
Madan Krishna and Hari Bansha started out as a two-man team who incorporated a lot of the comedians with them and gave them a pathway as a career in comedy and acting. Their social message and the comedy-drama have made them a household name that people from all age and background knows and respects.
4. Dhurmus-Suntali (Sitaram Kattel and Kunjana Ghimire)
Sitaram Kattel also popularly known as Dhurmus, is a comedian who presently has been working as a social worker for the social causes of helping others. Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation, founded with his wife Suntali (Kunjana Ghimire), has been working on different development and social projects. Starting out from Meri Basai and many shows that followed with their popularity has established them as the loved and embraced comedians and actors.
5. Deepak Raj Giri and Deepa Shree Niraula
Deepak-Deepa is the favorite on-screen couple that Nepali people from children to old people have all acknowledged them to be as their own. Their show Tito-Satya was the center of attraction for each and every Nepali. They made their position with each episode with social messages and never stopping dose of reality-based comedy. Now they are working on big screens and taking the charts of the records with blockbuster movies.
6. Jitu Nepal (Mundre)
The young starting actor who portrayed a cool but show-off character of Mundre in Jire Khursani, a very popular comedy series. The long-running series showed the character that established him as Mundre. With this he appeared on many other features and movies. And he is also the member of the blockbuster movies from the comedy genre, which broke the records. At present, he has his own comedy show Mundre ko Comedy Show that is telecasted from Nepal Television.
7. Shiva Hari Poudel and Kiran KC
Kiran KC and Shivahari Pudel both started their career from affiliation with Maha Jodi with the TV show series from Maha Sanchar. Breaking out and exploring with many fields they acted in various roles in different movies. And upon popularity they created a comedy TV series ‘Jire Khursani’ with Jitu Nepal, which gained a lot of popularity in Nepali audience. Now, they are a blockbuster movie actores from comedy genre.
8. Magne Buda (Kedar Ghimire)
Kedar Ghimire, popularly known as Magne Buda is the character actor of Meri Bassai who got so popular with it, that most people will know him as Magne Buda rather than his real name. Upon the Success, his standup shows from the country and abroad have created him as a family name with a respected amount of popularity.
9. Rajaram Poudel
Rajaram Poudel is a man who got his career escalating with his working in the series of Maha Sanchar. He, later on, joined the team of Jire Khursani and with his comedy shows around the world made his as an established actor and comedian. He has played his role in many films too. There can be hardly any person who wouldn’t know him.
10. Narayan Tripathi
Narayan Tripathi is the classic comedian actor whose remember-worthy presentation and comedy have made him a name of comedy. His all-time classic acting in the Jwai movie has been the most repeatedly watched movie with its context of the Dashain festival. We get to see him on television though he is not actively present in today’s scene.
11. Wilson Bikram Rai
An old man in the character, who came into the limelight with his appearance in Meri Bassai, is actually a young youth who has won the hearts of Nepaliii comedy lovers with his 19Founrteen storyline. His shows are embraced by every Nepali people living around the world
